By Brian Nowicki UT Athletic Director Mike O'Brien announced today that the Rockets have signed a deal to play the University of Arizona in a three game football series. The Rockets will travel to Arizona on September 6th of 2008. Then Arizona will travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets in the Glass Bowl on September 4th of 2010. Toledo will then travel back out to Arizona to conclude the series on September 1st of 2012. "This is another great opportunity for our football program," said UT Athletic Director Mike O’Brien. “It is especially exciting for our players and our fans to bring a Pac-10 school to the Glass Bowl. We also look forward to gaining exposure for our program in another part of the country." Toledo has played Arizona once before, in Tucson. That was a 23-10 loss to the Arizona Wildcats back in 1985. Arizona's trip to the Glass Bowl in 2010 will be the first school from the PAC-10 to come to the Glass Bowl. "Arizona will be a another challenging opponent for our program," said head football coach Tom Amstutz. "We look forward to playing them both in Tucson and in front of our fans in the Glass Bowl." The Rockets have a very challenging future non-conference schedule. The schedule also brings in some great programs. This year Toledo will host Kansas from the Big 12. Next year the Rockets host Iowa State (Big 12) and Purdue (Big Ten). In 2008 the Rockets will host Fresno State. In 2009 the Rockets will host Boise State at the Glass Bowl and Ohio State (Big Ten) in Cleveland Browns Stadium. Then in 2010 the Rockets will host Arizona (PAC 10).
