Q&A with Wide Receiver Nick Moore
August 12, 2006
By Brian Nowicki

Sophomore wide receiver Nick Moore has a new jersey number, #1. Sound familiar? Remember another Moore that wore that number? That's right, Nick's older brother Lance Moore wore that number while he was rewriting the receiving record book at Toledo.

Nick Moore, 6-4 and 192 pounds, was listed as one of the Top 50 receivers in the nation by Fab 50 Recruiting in 2003. As a redshirt freshman last season, Nick had 24 receptions for 335 yards and four touchdowns. He played in 11 games, starting 10 of them. This year Nick is poised to become one of the main go-to receivers in the Rocket offense. I recently interviewed Nick Moore about the upcoming season. Below is a brief Q & A from that interview.

Nick Moore Q & A

How was your summer?
Nick - This summer things went pretty well until the 2nd to last workout. I got a little injury, but I should be back pretty soon.

What happened to the ankle?
Nick - I sprained it.

Will you be back in time for the Iowa State game?
Nick - Well, we will have to see how the therapy goes. (Update - This interview took place about a week ago. Since the interview, Nick's therapy has been progressing well and he is no longer using crutches. Though I have not talked to Nick Moore since the interview, Coach Amstutz believes Nick will be ready to go against Iowa State.)

What can you tell me about the quarterbacks on the team?
Nick - They're all talented. They gotta work hard during two a days, and we will see who emerges.

Steve Odom and David Washington have the most experience in the program at wide receiver. What can you tell me about them?
Nick - Steve's in his 4th year playing. D-Wash is in his 3rd year playing. They got a lot of experience and they are good players. I am happy to be sharing the field with them.

Even though you redshirted in 2004, you got to play with on the team with your brother. What did you take away from that experience?
Nick - He showed me a lot of little things during two a days. He helped me to study the plays and get the offense down, so I was ahead of the game. He helped me with little things at practice that helped me a lot in my game.

Do you get to talk to him a lot now?
Nick - I have, but now that he is so busy with training camp it's hard. He did work out with us this summer. Every chance I get I talk to him.

What do you like to do when you are not on the football field?
Nick - I like to read and hang out with friends. I like to read the bible and a lot of sports related stuff.
