Spring is Here!
March 17, 2006
By Brian Nowicki

The University of Toledo Rockets football team begins Spring practices tomorrow morning at 9:00am. The Rockets are coming off a 9-3 season, that was highlighted by a 44-41 double overtime victory over arch-rival Bowling Green and a 45-13 thumping of UTEP in the GMAC Bowl.

The Rockets return 16 starters from last year's squad, but all eyes will be on the battle to replace QB Bruce Gradkowski. Gradkowski left his mark at Toledo as one of the most successful quarterbacks ever. He currently holds 19 school passing records. Replacing him is going to be tough, and will definitely be the talk of the town.

This spring Coach Amstutz and his staff will begin the process of finding the replacement at quarterback. Toledo will have 15 practice sessions this spring, and then players will report to preseason camp on August 1st to prepare for the season opener at Iowa State on Thursday, August 31st.

Spring practices are closed to the public, with the exception of a scrimmage on Friday, April 14th at 3:15pm.
