Senior wide receiver Steve Odom needs just 53 more receptions to become the career receptions leader at the University of Toledo. He also needs just 574 yards receiving to become the career leader for receiving yards at Toledo. And with 17 career touchdown receptions, he needs just 8 more to become the leader in career touchdown receptions at Toledo. All three records are within reach. Ironically, Steve Odom is from the same high school that the current record holder in each of those categories went too. That high school is Westerville South High School. That current record holder is of course Lance Moore. Odom also is the current NCAA leader for consecutive games with a reception. He has caught at least one pass in every single collegiate football game he has played in. That is 37 straight games. Odom was recently named one of four captains for the University of Toledo 2006 football team. I recently talked to Mr. Odom and below is a brief summary of that interview. |

Steve Odom Q & A How did things go this summer? Steve - Summer workouts went great. I feel that we improved both individually and as a team. How did the quarterbacks perform this summer? Steve - The quarterbacks are doing an outstanding job. They are coming along and getting comfortable with the offense. I think we will be ready to play. What are your early impressions of incoming freshman QB Aaron Opelt? Steve - He did summer workouts with us and he threw the ball well. As a new quarterback it is gonna take a little bit of time for him to learn our offense, but over the summer I saw him improve everyday and I'm excited to see him play. Tell me about your position coach, Jon Carr? Steve - I think Coach Carr is an outstanding coach. Sometimes he teaches us, and sometimes he will listen to what we see. He is very understanding, but he also pushes us to be better.. You went to the same high school as Lance Moore. Did his decision to come to Toledo influence your decision? Steve - Yes, it had some impact. We both got offered on the same day. I was up here for a one day camp and he came up for a visit. We both got offered and somehow, someway we both ended up here. Are you anxious for the season to start? Steve - It seems like just yesterday we were in the bowl game. Spring and summer went fast and I'm excited for the season. What things do you like to do when you are not on the football field? Steve - On my off days I like to sit at the crib, in front of the TV, with my feet up. Have a question or comment for Brian?
